Laboratory is a team of ambitious scholars working with the problems of educational choice and social inequality in line with cultural sociology. Since 2012, the Laboratory has been conducting the study “Trajectories in Education and Careers” (TrEC), a unique panel longitudinal study of Russian youth. The TREC includes a representative national and several regional panels, which collect quantitative and qualitative data on the life trajectories of young people. We study the mechanisms of choice and look for ways to overcome the barriers that young people face in their path. We're exploring the key role that culture plays in shaping contemporary educational and career trajectories of Russian youth and inequalities that accompany them.
