SERU COVID Survey
The Research University Student Experience Consortium (SERU) conducted a dedicated survey on the impact of COVID-19 on student experiences at 10 US public research universities in May-July 2020. The SERU COVID-19 study assesses 5 areas of student experience for the pandemic and campus closures affected both undergraduate and graduate students:
(1) transition to distance learning,
(2) the financial implications of COVID-19 for students,
(3) the health and well-being of students,
(4) ownership and involvement,
(5) plans for the future.
The Student Research University Experience Consortium (SERU) is an academic research collaboration hosted by the Center for Research in Higher Education at the University of California at Berkeley (CSHE), working in partnership with the University of Minnesota, HSE and other partnerships. institutions. Longitudinal study – Trajectories and Student Experience in Russian Universities (2014-2019)
The aim of the project is to study students’ trajectories and the contribution by leading Russian research universities (participants in the 5-100 programme and national universities) to education and professional success. The longitudinal design gives a new approach to understanding the role of the educational environment and the influence of institutional factors on such processes as school-university transition, adaptation in universities, engagement in the academic process, time allocation, investment efforts in various activities, dynamics of students’ value orientations, accumulation of social capital, dishonest practices, joining the labour market and career building.
Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) International Consortium (2015-2020)
The aim of the project is to generate regular comparative research on the student experience in research universities and to use the obtained results for institutional self-improvement. The consortium aims to create a global network of universities with an interest in improving the educational environment.
Study of Undergraduate Performance (SUPER-test) (2014-present)
The SUPER-test is an international comparative study aimed at measuring gains in academic and higher order thinking skills among university students and identifying factors that affect skill gains. It was organized by researchers at Stanford University in collaboration with partner institutions in Russia, China, and India.
