Research & Expertise to Make a Difference in Education & Beyond

The IOE has strengthened its partnership with leading Hong Kong universities

In August, the Director of the Institute of Education, Evgeniy Terentev, and the Head of International Affairs, Maksim Nikitin, visited top-ranking Hong Kong universities to network. They also attended the AIEdu2025 conference to exchange knowledge about the influence of artificial intelligence on education.

During the fruitful trip, many new opportunities for collaboration were explored in various areas. Firstly, Evgeniy Terentev and Maksim Nikitin discussed collaborative writing and AI with experts from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), a global leader in cutting-edge research. Moreover, they coordinated joint research in sports education and AI literacy with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which is ranked 1st in Hong Kong.

The HSE Institute of Education delegation was warmly welcomed by representatives from the Faculty of Education and Human Development at the Education University of Hong Kong (EDU HK). The faculty emphasised the importance of strong collaboration with the IOE, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence applications in education, children’s well-being and higher education reform. Issues relating to psychometrics and childhood were also discussed. In these areas, IOE experts are planning joint research with the University of Macao (UM).

In addition to strengthening institutional ties, the IOE’s leadership attended the 2nd EdUHK x HKUST Joint International Conference on AI and Education. The conference aimed to explore the profound impact and potential of AI in educational settings. Professor Evgeniy Terentev was one of the panellists in the discussion titled 'AI, Attention, and Learning: Preparing Students for a Fast-Changing World'. Furthermore, Terentev and Nikitin successfully gave a joint presentation on the impact of artificial intelligence on the educational landscape in Russia.

We congratulate our colleagues on the efficient outcomes of the visit and look forward to collaborating with our counterparts from Hong Kong universities.
