Opening New Partnerships: IOE Welcomes Delegation from Kasetsart University, Thailand

Kasetsart University is one of Thailand’s leading public universities. It is ranked 5th in the country, and its Faculty of Education has a strong focus on educational innovation, the learning sciences, and research-based approaches to teaching and development.
Guided by the principle of 'creating educational innovations for the development of a society for all', the Faculty of Education brings together over 2,000 students and more than 150 faculty and staff members. The Faculty's activities are centred around five core values—respect, resilience, responsibility, teamwork, and creativity—and four key missions: preparing graduates who can develop educational innovations; conducting research that responds to societal needs; providing academic services that promote educational equity; and ensuring transparent and effective institutional governance.
The Kasetsart University delegation was led by Udomluk Koolsriroj, Dean of the Faculty of Education. The delegation included faculty administrators and academic department representatives, including Chanon Chuntra (Associate Dean for Administration), Wandee Kasemsukpipat (Associate Dean for International Development) and Songchai Ugsonkid (Head of the Department of Education).
The Institute of Education delegation was welcomed by Maksim Nikitin, the Deputy Dean for International Affairs. Colleagues representing a variety of research areas also attended the meeting, including Svetlana Zhuchkova (Academic Director of the Doctoral School of Education), Anastasia Kapuza (Head of the International Laboratory for Research and Design in eLearning) and Alexandra Bochaver (Director of the Centre for Modern Childhood Research).
The programme began with presentations introducing both institutions and their key areas of activity. Representatives of the Institute of Education’s research centres presented their current projects and recent developments, while Kasetsart University colleagues presented their academic priorities and ongoing initiatives.
Particular attention was given to identifying shared research interests and exploring potential areas of cooperation. The exchange highlighted several areas of common interest, including educational assessment and measurement, childhood research, and the contemporary challenges facing educational systems.
As this was our first meeting, the discussion not only focused on presenting current projects, but also on getting to know each other's research interests and academic contexts. It was encouraging to see how many overlapping themes and potential areas for collaboration emerged during the conversation,” Maksim Nikitin noted.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts, symbolising the beginning of a new partnership. Colleagues also agreed to continue discussions at future meetings, where opportunities for joint research projects and broader academic collaboration will be explored in greater detail.
The Institute of Education thanks colleagues from Kasetsart University for their visit, productive discussions and warm exchange of ideas, and looks forward to continued cooperation in the future!
