«Analysis of the Factors of Education Quality» research

An intern of the International Laboratory for Education Policy Analysis at the HSE Institute of Education, Elizaveta Chernenko and Andrey Zakharov, Deputy Head of the Laboratory have presented the results of «Analysis of the Factors of Education Quality» research. They have investigated the relationships between students' professional choice (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and characteristics of immediate environment. 

For the purpose of the study, researchers have detailed social networks within the class, thereby maximizing examined in detail school microenvironment of the student. Longitudinal data of HSE project «Monitoring Educational and Employment Trajectories of School and Higher Education Institution Graduates» were taken as a basis of the research - 498 students out of 19 state regions.

To describe the friendships within the class, social network analysis were used. Series of logistic regressions with dependent variable - professional choice of the student, have been analyzed.
