The visit of Martin Carnoy


Professor of the Stanford University and scientific adviser of the Laboratory, Martin Carnoy is visiting Moscow from 13th to 18th of September.

Dr. Martin Carnoy  is a well-known American scientist and economist with a special interest in the political economy of educational systems, who specializes in comparative analysis. The emphasis of Dr. M.Carnoy is associated with the research of the relation between the economy and the educational system. He is also focused on differences between a teacher’s salary to their preparation across countries, as well as larger issues of the impact of economic inequality in the quality of education.

Dr. M.Carnoy has written more than 30 books on education policy, economic issues and racial inequality. His articles are published extensively in many well-known international journals. Furthermore, Martin Carnoy is a consultant to the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNESCO, IEA, OECD, UNICEF.Several meetings on the current projects will be held during his visit. He is also giving a master class «What makes an interesting research question» for master's students and Ph.D. students of the Institute of Education HSE.
