Criticism and justification of academic dishonesty among bachelors

The European Journal of Higher education has published an article "Criticism and justification of undergraduate academic dishonesty: development and validation of the domestic, market and industrial orders of worth scales". Despite the fact that universities around the world are introducing codes of ethics, students still use various strategies of dishonest behavior while studying at the university. Building on the theory of Boltanski and Thévenot, colleagues developed and tested a questionnaire measuring the prevalence of students who use different ways to justify or criticize academic dishonesty. A total of 3,538 students from six Russian universities took part in the study. The toolkit presented in the article can be used by universities to monitor which strategies prevail among students, as well as to develop codes of ethics in universities.
