Global University Summit BRICS
Members of the Centre for Applied Legal Research Szymon Jankiewicz and Nadezhda Knyaginina participated in the Global University Summit BRICS. The Summit is an official event of Russia’s chairmanship in BRICS 2015-2016. The forum was held by MGIMO, MSU, RUDN and MISIS.
The University Summit brought together over 400 representatives of the leading universities from BRICS countries, international organizations and research centers. On the first day of Summit there was a special session held by the science ministers of BRICS countries under the name «Universities and science». The question of the BRICS Network University was given paramount importance.
Among other things, Summit’s syllabus included discussions of the following issues: academic mobility, educational migration, universities’ rankings and universities’ consortiums. Special attention was paid to the topics of education’s accessibility, especially in the context of distance education.
In frames of the forum representatives also touched upon the issues of international finance, reforming of the multilateral financial institutions, as well as perspectives of those within the BRICS; international trade issues and prospects of the preferential trade relations (free trade areas) within the BRICS; cyber security and approaches to the international information’s exchange.
