Child's Rights at School and Outside of School

On the 22th of August, 2017 there was a lecture in the Moscow’s Central Children’s Shop. Nadezhda Knyaginina, Junior Research Fellow at the Center for Education Law of the HSE Institute of Education, talked about children’s rights and why adults should treat them with respect.

“Parents often neglect their children’s rights. Many mothers and fathers have a feeling that they have every right to decide what is better for their child. Partially it is true but from a legal point of view this situation is not so clear. For example, you cannot read your child’s messages or view his or her belongings without asking their permission. Teachers cannot force children to wash floors or attend additional classes. Therefore, all parents need to know and understand their own rights and rights of their children, where to find them and in which cases they should be protected”.
