New publication in the journal of Higher Education

Saule Bekova and Tatiana Semenova took part in the AERA Annual Meeting in New York. This year it offered a robust program of interesting sessions, division and SIG paper/symposium, roundtables, and poster sessions, and professional development courses, as well as off-site visits and tours.

IOE doctoral student Irina Shcheglova has recently completed her internship with the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California Berkeley (the USA). IOE Experts Take Part in International Conference at University of California Berkeley

On November 16–17, 2017, the Center for Studies in Higher Education (CSHE) at the University of California Berkeley welcomed the conference New Nationalism and Universities, which celebrated CSHE’s 60th Anniversary. With broad attendance by the Center’s alumni, affiliated researchers and distinguished professionals from across the globe, the event has become a premier international venue for multi-perspective networking and debate about politics and policy in higher education. Igor Chirikov who is the former Visiting Scholar of the CSHE presented at the Conference.

Natalia Maloshonok and Evgeniy Terentev have shared their inspiration behind conducting the research on educational expectations of newcomers and the consequences of its mismatch with real activities at a university.

On November 15 University of Minnesota and CSHE ran the SERU Graduate Student Experience Workshop at UC Berkeley. Participants discussed practical learning and insights from the gradSERU Survey. Current and prospective members of the Consortium had an opportunity to network with leaders in graduate education research and administration from around the world, get more information on the gradSERU instrument and discuss questions regarding SERU membership.

A working paper co-authored by CSHE Analyst Irina Shcheglova has been published in the online repository of UC Berkeley’s Center for Studies in Higher Education. The paper analyzes how US universities’ expanding international agendas relate to student global competence.
