On November 16–17, 2017, the Center for Studies in Higher Education (CSHE) at the University of California Berkeley welcomed the conference New Nationalism and Universities, which celebrated CSHE’s 60th Anniversary. With broad attendance by the Center’s alumni, affiliated researchers and distinguished professionals from across the globe, the event has become a premier international venue for multi-perspective networking and debate about politics and policy in higher education. Igor Chirikov who is the former Visiting Scholar of the CSHE presented at the Conference.
Natalia Maloshonok and Evgeniy Terentev have shared their inspiration behind conducting the research on educational expectations of newcomers and the consequences of its mismatch with real activities at a university.

A working paper co-authored by CSHE Analyst Irina Shcheglova has been published in the online repository of UC Berkeley’s Center for Studies in Higher Education. The paper analyzes how US universities’ expanding international agendas relate to student global competence.
Center of Sociology of Higher Education was involved in planning, organizing the 8th International Conference on Higher Education Research “Dynamic Universities for Dynamic World” as well as in presenting and discussing the results of priority projects ran by the CSHE.
