Professor Jan de Groof, Academic Supervisor of the Center for Education Law of the HSE Institute of Education, gave a lecture at the Faculty of Law as a part of the course “Educational Law”.
University of Bialystok (Poland) held its third internship within the project EduLaw “Introducing modules on law and rights in programmes of teacher training and educational sciences: A contribution to building rights-based education systems in countries in transition”.
One of the main results of the «Week of Educational Rights» was the decision to prepare a new commentary to the Federal Law on Education. It will be the first bilingual commentary in Russian law based on a detailed analysis of the international law, the decisions of the European court for human rights and the legislation of the foreign countries.
Professor from Roma Tre University, Pablo Meix Cereceda, outlined the critical areas of concern of the report and, in particular, the theoretical basis of inclusive education, international regulation of the problem, approach to he issue from the position of constitutional law, analysis of the practice of positive discrimination.
Within the week of education law HSE’s Institute of Education hosted a seminar on «Federalism in Education». This event was devoted to discussing the most severe challenges of education in the Federal States, especially in Russia’s.
Within expert seminar, the discussion of the problem acquired a practical focus. Emphasis was placed on the approaches to solve the problem developed by the researchers.
The language of education is an important factor which determines its quality and gives everyone an equal access to education opportunities – that is how Jan de Groof, Academic Supervisor of the Center for Education Law of the HSE Institute of Education, began his greeting speech as a part of lectures dedicated to the question “How to solve conflicts in language policy? – Federalism, Autonomy, Pluralism, Identity, Access and Inclusion”.

On the 4th of September, 2017 Maris Smirnova, senior researcher of the Center for Educational Law of the Institute of Education has started her work as an Associate Human Rights Officer in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. She will take part in the preparation of the 36th session of the UN Council, which will be held in Geneva from 11 to 29th of September 2017.
