International Summer School on Higher Education 2024

The Institute of Education, HSE, in collaboration with the International Higher School of Medicine, invites applications for the upcoming International Summer School on Higher Education.  Our school aims both to provide insights into the most relevant issues in education studies and to discuss participants' own research projects and improve their research skills. 

 

The school is designed to strengthen the link between research and policy with its comprehensive structure, highlighted by its distinctive features:

Focus on essential concepts and innovative research ideas within higher education studies

Integration of theoretical knowledge with practical (policy) applications in research

Strong commitment to empirical research methods

Interdisciplinary approach, incorporating insights from multiple fields

International outlook, with faculty and participants from around the globe

Welcoming and supportive atmosphere that encourages successful academic careers

School program and schedule:

The school will cover the most prominent topics in contemporary higher education research, among them:

  • student wellbeing in modern universities, 

  • education-employment nexus, 

  • transformations of doctoral training, 

  • issues of inequality in higher education.

In addition to the three days dedicated to academic work, the school includes a welcome day and a cultural day. The cultural day is specially designed to acquaint participants with the unique aspects of Kyrgyz culture, offering a memorable experience alongside the academic offerings. Information about the cultural program will be shared in advance.

Each working day includes three basic elements:
  • Keynote presentation from faculty members (one or two presentations each day)

  • Methodology workshop, e.g. experimental studies and policy evaluation research, ethnography and action research, comparative research, new data sources (one each day).  

  • School participants' presentations and comments from the faculty.

English serves as the primary language for all activities.
