Centre for Education Leadership


IOE Centre for Education Leadership explores the most effective methods of educational management both in Russia and worldwide.

One of IOE’s key research & advisory units since 2012, the Centre seeks to facilitate the adoption and integration of best practice in educational leadership into learning & development environments in the Russian Federation.

Building on extensive and diversified field expertise, which is accumulated and consistently updated through active involvement in cross-disciplinary, multi-venue professional networking (conferences, seminars, workshops, partnerships, etc.), the Centre designs and delivers top-notch curricular to prepare advanced, future-proof leaders capable of steering sizable transformations and innovation in various frameworks of instruction and the academic profession.

Key Credentials

7 System Leadership Study. In cooperation with its overseas institutional partners, the Centre is carrying out a flagship project that aims to explore leadership development and leadership practice in the education systems of Malaysia, Australia, Hong Kong, England, Indonesia, Russia, and Singapore. Drawing on foremost and multi-dimensional expertise of the project’s international expert team, this endeavour involves processing and benchmarking massive arrays of country-specific data sourced by a string of methods, including surveys and focus group interviews with school principals and other executive administrators at various national levels, to provide more systems and pervasive insights into how particular approaches to leadership training & development correlate with the leaders’ actual performance and value-added effects generated for respective school environments.     

Governance Best-practice Monitoring & Advisory. To ensure its expertise helps build more robust and visionary governance with a broader range of stakeholders, the Centre continuously tracks best-practice leadership models to be further shared across institutions and communities as plain, cohesive expert proposals and specialist-focused guidance on best strategies to improve management skills and approaches.  

Upgrades & Innovations in Teacher Training Framework. In line with the RF Ministry of Education and Science’s commitment to fostering the quality of teaching at all levels, the Centre partners with Russia’s other vanguard academic hubs in education, such as Moscow State Teacher Training University and Moscow State Psychology and Pedagogy University, in devising and delivering the most up-to-date, highly empowering Master’s and continuing learning programmes tailored to best cater for fast-changing professional agendas of today’s education practitioners.

Expert Support to Strategic Project Leadership. The Centre’s experts provide advisory support to governance functions with several Russian higher education institutions (Far Eastern Federal University, Ulyanovsk State Teacher Training University, and Moscow State Technology and Management University, among others) in designing and implementing large-scale, expertise-intensive strategic development projects (e.g., academic expansions through new divisions, innovation roadmaps, etc.).
