Professor Martin Carnoy of Stanford University and visiting professor at the Higher School of Economics, and Tatiana Khavenson, Research Fellow at the HSE Institute of Education, were among the authors of the report ‘An Analysis of the Impact of Education Policies on Student Achievement in the United States’, which was recently presented in Washington, DC. The key provisions of this report are of use when it comes to analyzing the situation in Russian education.

The laboratory staff - Andrey Zakharov and Tatiana Khavenson - had participated in The Conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the International Research Laboratory for Institutional Analysis of Economic Reforms and the 5th anniversary of the Centre for Institutional Studies HSE.
TIMSS Advanced is a large-scale monitoring and therefore the control procedures of testing are needed throughout assessment. Galina Larina has participated in the International observers TIMSS Advanced training seminar which was organized on 28th of January in Amsterdam. Later, Irina Shklyaeva, Anastasia Kapuza and Julia Koreshnikova were also involved in the TIMSS Advanced observation.
XVIth International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development, which was organized by Higher School of Economy with support of World Bank, has completed its work on 10th of April. Laboratory staff presentations became an important part of the conference work.
