An article by IOE Academic Supervisor Isak Froumin and Junior Researcher Daria Platonova has been published in Encyclopedia of International Higher Education Systems and Institutions, edited by Jung Cheol Shin and Pedro Nuno Teixeira.
In the paper entitled Higher Education Expansion in Brazil, Russia, India and China, the IOE experts illuminate major developments in the said countries’ education systems, along with prospective implications of the BRIC’s booming academic market, which now represents as much as 40% in the global student count, for the international university landscape at large.
The article, featured in the Encyclopedia’s Elite and Mass Higher Education section edited by Manja Klemencic, provides country-level snapshots of overall organization and segmentation patterns in BRIC higher education, and spotlights national roadmaps currently pursued to mitigate inequality and enable better access to university training.
The authors spell out key financial and operational drivers in the BRIC university markets, while also discussing such pivotal factors in mass higher education as institutional diversity, regional distribution and differentiation, and accessibility.
