IOE Researcher Interns at OECD Headquarters in Paris

Anastasia Andreeva, a student in HSE’s Comparative Social Research MA and research assistant at IOE’s Center for Educational Innovation, has recently set off for Paris, France to take up an academic internship with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). During her stay, Anastasia will focus on exploring various frameworks in measuring educational innovations.

“OECD is an intergovernmental organization that is committed to devising comprehensive evidence-based roadmaps for robust policymaking across socioeconomic realms, including education. OECD maintains a large portfolio of initiatives in educational monitoring and testing, such as PISA, PIAAC, TALIS, etc., that have become widely accepted throughout the world. Drawing on its diverse intelligence expertise, OECD offers truly unequalled opportunities for capable and motivated international students in multiple fields. So, I’m pretty confident interning at a top-tier R&D center like this will provide unique theoretical and hands-on experiences, specifically in such areas as project logistics, managing big R&D teams, etc., which I’ll be more than happy to share with my colleagues at IOE once I get back to Moscow,” Anastasia comments.

Anastasia ended up opting for OECD largely thanks to advice and support she received from Diana Koroleva, her academic supervisor at IOE. During her internship in Paris, Anastasia’s research will be led by Stéphan Vincent-Lancrin, an expert at OECD’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI).

These first weeks of my stay at OECD have already brought a host of enthralling cultural and academic experiences. In particular, I’ve had a chance to become familiar with the large-scope ‘Critical Thinking and Creativity in Higher Education’ project, which aims to evaluate two of the most important student skills, and to delve into how its international participants work. By the way, IOE is the only academic hub representing Russia in this massive study.
