Yidan Prize 2018 Awarded in Hong Kong
On December 9–10, Hong Kong hosted the 2018 events of the Yidan Prize, one of the world’s most prestigious awards that recognizes unparalleled contribution to education research and development.
The HSE Institute of Education (IOE) is one of the two Russian organizations (alongside Sberbank’s 'Investment in Future' foundation) that have entered the Yidan Prize Nomination Board. Head of IOE, Dr. Isak Froumin traveled to Hong Kong to participate in networking sessions held as part of the Yidan Prize 2018’s Global Educational R&D Summit on December 10.
Established in 2016 by Dr. Charles CHEN Yidan, the Prize, which is now the biggest award in education with its foundation endowment exceeding USD 320 million, aims to help make a sustainable difference in L&D to create a better world for many years to come, including by promoting a more meaningful dialogue among various global stakeholders.
The Yidan Prize consists of two awards, the Yidan Prize for Education Research and the Yidan Prize for Education Development. Every Prize laureate receives a gold medal and a total of HKD 30 million (about USD 3.9 million). This year, the Prize Honorees are Prof. Larry HEDGES, a renowned statistician whose developments in education policy meta-analysis enable multiple stakeholders to see what works in education, and Prof. Anant AGARWAL, the founder and CEO of edX, an e-learning venue established by Harvard and MIT.
