Young scholars Anastasia Kapuza and Galina Larina, who teach in IOE’s Measurements in Psychology and Education Master’s program, traveled to England and the Netherlands this summer to join international schools for multidisciplinary social researchers at Essex University and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. “The schools have provided a host of insights about today’s top-notch approaches to social data analysis and interpretation, and we are absolutely thrilled to be sharing this expertise with IOE students in the new academic year,” Anastasia and Galina say.

In July 2017, the HSE Institute of Education welcomed its first international summer school Inequality of Educational Opportunities. Organized by the IOE International Laboratory for Education Policy Analysis, this venue aimed to promote best-practice approaches to inequality research through multi-dimensional academic debate and learning about today’s advanced methodology in social data analysis.

In mid-June 2017, the town of Pushkin near St. Petersburg, Russia welcomed the Fifth International Summer School on Higher Education Research, a joint initiative between the HSE Institute of Education and Peking University’s China Institute for Educational Finance Research. This year, the Summer School focused on higher education and social inequality.

The Project 5-100 is a landmark development & innovation endeavour that aims to promote international-standard performance and academic excellence at leading Russian universities. In a recent meeting with the Project 5-100 International Council, HSE representatives talked about the University’s achievements following the implementation of the first half of the Project and also outlined their upcoming development plans. 

HSE Vice Rector Ivan Prostakov discusses the results of a recent International Advisory Committee (IAC) meeting, as well as the priorities the university has set for its international activities.

The International Summer School on Educational Finance was held on July 3-10 in Beijing. The event was organized by HSE Institute of Education and the China Institute for Educational Finance Research, Peking University (CIEFR). Questions of educational financing were considered in the context of globalization and assessing students’ educational achievements.

The summer session of the Competition for Innovators in Education (KIvO), organized by the Higher School of Economics, was recently held in Moscow. Over a four-day period and under the careful watch of respected experts, KIvO participants worked on and developed projects, which will be presented to potential investors at the International Conference on New Educational Technologies EdCruch, slated for September 12-14, 2016 in Moscow. 

The 40th annual conference of the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) took place on November 5-8 in Denver (Colorado, US).
