Ruoqi Cao, from Harbin, China, graduated from HSE University’s Master’s programme in International Business. She is now working on her PhD at the HSE Institute of Education, where her research focuses on regional contributions of higher education in Russia and China.
IOE’s New Lab for Evidence-based Assessments of Educational Innovation to Help Better Inform Sector Policy and Practice
We are happy to announce a call for multiple positions of Research Assistant / Research Associate to join the International Laboratory for the Evidence-Based Assessment of Educational Practices and Innovations, a new R&D division that has recently come on stream at the HSE Institute of Education Moscow.
World-renowned edutainment expert and entrepreneur in extended L&D, Dr. Ger Graus, OBE has recently commenced his sojourn with IOE as a Guest Professor at the Center for General and Extracurricular Education. During his term, Dr. Graus will be contributing across multiple strands of the Center’s research and networking agenda.
Adam Gemar (U.S.) has recently begun his 12-month sojourn with the IOE Laboratory for Cultural Sociology and Anthropology of Education as part of the HSE International Postdoc Fellowship Program 2019. Coming from Fargo, North Dakota, Adam boasts premier credentials in socio-economic and cultural studies that he has earned from leading U.S. and UK institutions, including Yale University, London School of Economics and Durham University. He completed his doctoral degree earlier this year. One of the key areas of Adam’s research is educational inequality.
Between August 5 and 10, the Sixth International Summer School ‘Applied Psychometrics in Psychology and Education’ took place at IOE.
As part of its exchange program with Politecnico di Milano, IOE will be welcoming a group of Italian students in Management Dell’Università MA in the coming fall of 2019 who will be taking an intensive two-day sojourn in Moscow beginning October 23. In turn, Russian students in IOE’s University Management MA will be traveling to Italy later this November to complete a series of program modules at Politecnico di Milano.
At IOE, we have ploughed more and more effort in recent years in expanding and invigorating the program of learning & networking that we offer early-career scholars from multiple corners of the globe and with diverse perspectives in educational research. Proudly inaugurated this year in association with the World Bank, the First International Summer School ‘The Role of Education in National and Regional Socioeconomic Development’ has become an enriching and timely addition to IOE’s summer academic agenda of 2019.
As the world is becoming more and more data-driven, how has the global boom in ICT been remolding the schooling realm and what are the key challenges and opportunities in making schools better prepared to get the most of digital innovation? American SemyonovAward Recipient to Look at Higher Education’s Relation to Civic Engagement in Russia
Radomir ‘Ray’ Mitic just completed his PhD at New York University and will be joining the Council of Graduate Schools as a postdoctoral fellow this coming fall in Washington, D.C. This summer, he received an HSE SemyonovAward Research Internship to study civic engagement among Russian university students at the Institute of Education at HSE University. Last week, he participated in the International Summer School on Higher Education Research in St. Petersburg, and now he is conducting field research in Moscow. We spoke with Ray about his research, his impressions of the two Russian cities, and his future plans.
Seventh International Summer School on Higher Education Research: An Enthralling Journey of Learning and Discovery
From May 31 to June 6, 2019, IOE hosted the Seventh International Summer School on Higher Education Research that took place in the picturesque historic locality of Pushkin, near St. Petersburg. The theme of 2019 was “Theoretical and Conceptual Perspectives in Higher Education Research.” The Summer School brought together about 30 participants and faculty from different countries, including China, Eastern and Western Europe, India, Russia and the USA. The School program this year was specifically framed to cover key theories and concepts developed in sociology, economics, history, cultural and comparative studies as apply to higher education research.
