An international team of education experts, including IOE researcher Oleg Podolskiy, has published a new textbook on Instructional Design and Technology.

On March 30–31, Paris welcomed a regular OECD meeting of participants in the Education and Social Progress (ESP) international study, which addresses the development of social and emotional skills at school. Russia was represented by a team of experts with the IOE Centre for Monitoring the Quality in Education (CMQE).

Savitribai Phule Pune University is the most fortunate university in 2017, according to the Fortunate 500 Universities Rankings. This ranking is traditionally published every April Fool's Day by the Institute of Education of the Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow.

The Project 5-100 is a landmark development & innovation endeavour that aims to promote international-standard performance and academic excellence at leading Russian universities. In a recent meeting with the Project 5-100 International Council, HSE representatives talked about the University’s achievements following the implementation of the first half of the Project and also outlined their upcoming development plans.

On January 15–18, the HSE Institute of Education doctoral student and junior researcher Ivan Smirnov took part in the NetSci-X International Conference on Network Science.

HSE Vice Rector Ivan Prostakov discusses the results of a recent International Advisory Committee (IAC) meeting, as well as the priorities the university has set for its international activities.

The meeting of International Advisory Committee starts December 6. Three newly appointed members of IAC have shared with HSE News Service their views on the role of external consultants in the development of universities, described their reasons for joining the committee and spoke about HSE’s academic reputation and the challenges the university faces.

On September 12, the winner of the 2016 Innovation in Education (KIvO) award was announced at the EdCrunch International Conference on New Educational Technologies. Taking home the prize this year was The Language of Generations, a social project that pairs up senior citizens from Russia with foreign students who are learning Russian.

Simulation games involve the recreation of various situations within the framework of a specially designed environment. There are many different types of games, but most come in the form of computer simulations used in the fields of medicine, flight training, business, and politics. Simulation games are unique in that they are used mostly in practice; that is, they are constructed and only then is one able to see whether these constructions work or not. To learn how to take a scientific approach towards this topic, Natalia Isaeva, Junior Research Fellow and Doctoral student at the Institute of Education went to the Netherlands to study at Maastricht University.
