Dr. Martin Carnoy, a Professor at Stanford University and Academic Advisor at the IOE International Laboratory for Evaluation of Practices and Innovations in Education, has entered the top 10 of the 2020 Edu-Scholar Public Influence Ranking in ‘Economics of Education.’

Earlier this July, IOE’s leading experts in education digitization, renowned guest speakers, and Chinese students with a keen focus on ICT in education convened online for the China–Russia Summer School on EdTech 2020. The event has heralded the first time for China and Russia to hold a joint academic forum of this kind since the COVID outbreak.

A recent release of Nature features an interview with Elizaveta Sivak, Head of the IOE Center for Modern Childhood Studies, where she shares about what essentially propelled her into computational social science. Established in 1869, Nature is among the world’s longest-standing and most reputable academic publications that now lists 32nd in the SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SJR).

The ‘Educational Studies Moscow’ journal, a quarterly international publication by HSE University, now places in Q2 of the Scopus international academic abstracting and indexing database. This reflects the growing citation rates and impact of the journal on a global scale, while further confirming its status as the leading Russian publication in the field of education.

A five-year Cooperation Agreement was signed earlier this May between the HSE Institute of Education (IOE) and German Institute for Adult Education (DIE). The partnership framework involves collaborating on a broad and diverse agenda that is set to usher in new momentum for bolstering and future-proofing the dimension of adult learning in Russia and Germany.

In these circumstances, exploring ways to make the utmost of what modern ICT offer for sustaining academia in times when conventional modes of leaning and networking are on hold has become an imperative as vital as perhaps never before. A webinar held earlier this week as part of the IOE 2019/20 series on ‘Educational R&D’ brought together academic leaders and experts from Russia, China, and the U.S. to share best practices in taking university programs online.

The HSE University has climbed three places year-on-year to list 110^th in the newly released QS World University Rankings in ‘Education’ 2020, another all-time high for a Russian university in this subject area.

From December 16 to 20, IOE is hosting its International Week of Education Law 2019, a prime venue for global experts in law and policy to exchange perspectives on how best practices across dimensions of educational governance are designed and deployed at both international, national, community, and institutional levels. We have talked to Dr. Bill Maxwell, former Chief Executive of Education Scotland who is among the key presenters for this year’s Law Week, about what he thinks of the regulatory reform in the dimension of educational monitoring and assessment that has been unfolding in Russia, his conception of how a robust schema of authority and accountability in educational QA should be configured, etc.

On August 22, HSE leaders, including the University Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov and Head of IOE Isak Froumin, met with Jaime Saavedra, Director of the World Bank's Education Global Practice.
