From 11–18 April, Anna Korchak, a Junior Research Fellow at the International Laboratory for Research and Design in e-learning and a Doctoral Student at the IOE, completed a research internship at East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai. The visit focused on the role of generative AI in collaborative academic writing.

The XXVI April International Academic Conference hosted a roundtable titled ‘Structural Transformation of Post-Secondary Education in the Context of Labour Market Change,’ organised by the HSE Centre for Skills Development and Vocational Education. The discussion brought together leading international experts to examine how the relationship between vocational and higher education is being reshaped, what hybrid institutional forms are emerging and the effect of these processes on educational trajectories, social mobility and labour market outcomes.

The XXVI April International Academic Conference named after Evgeny Yasin took place in Moscow from 14 to 17 April. The section devoted to educational studies was organised by the Institute of Education and featured presentations by leading international researchers.

The XIX International Scientific and Practical Conference “An Adolescent in the City: Facets of Sociality” brought together researchers and practitioners on April 7–8, 2026, at the HSE Institute of Education in Moscow. The event was organised by the Non-profit Partnership for the Development of Children and Adolescents ‘Perekrestok Plus’, in collaboration with the HSE Institute of Education and the RANEPA Faculty of Psychology.

How should international education data be interpreted? What might we overlook if we focus only on country rankings? These questions were at the heart of the HSE Open Seminar on Education, led by Professor Kit-Tai Hau from CUHK.

The KIVO Innovations in Education Contest, curated by the Laboratory for Educational Innovation Research at the HSE Institute of Education, is a long-running platform for identifying, supporting and connecting educational innovators. In 2025, the contest once again demonstrated its scale and relevance by attracting a record number of participants and showcasing diverse educational solutions. It reinforced its role as not only a competition, but also a sustainable professional community.

In September and October, Diana Koroleva, Scientific director of the Laboratory for Educational Innovation Research at the Institute of Education, participated in several significant international academic and policy-oriented events in Europe and Asia. These included the CEPE 2025 Conference in Rome, the G20 Education Forum and the APEC International Forum on Lifelong Vocational Skills Training, both of which were held in Beijing.

Researchers from the HSE Institute of Education took part in the International Academic Forum ‘Russian Education: Inheritance and Transformation,’ held on December 5–7 at Nanjing University and organised with the support of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China. The forum explored how education systems respond to social, technological, and institutional change, with Russian education serving as the central lens for international comparison and reflection.

On 23–28 November, the 17th Asian Conference on Education (ACE2025) was held in Tokyo. It brought together colleagues from the International Laboratory of Research and Design in eLearning of the Institute of Education.

In October, the HSE Institute of Education fellows presented a wide range of research initiatives at the annual World Education Research Association (WERA) conference in João Pessoa, Brazil.
