What teachers think about the performance-based contracts

A European round-up in the May 26 issue of The Economist spotlights what Vladimir Putin’s fourth presidential term will likely bring for Russian education and how the country’s academic progressives, led by the HSE Institute of Education, conceive of L&D policy priorities and reforms.

During the 2018 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum held last week, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between HSE, the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (MGSU), and Prosveshcheniye Education Holding. As part of the agreement, the two national research universities and Russia’s largest vendor of teaching and learning aids will jointly develop best-practice design and infrastructural solutions for school premises.

A recent study by IOE expert Ksenia Romanenko looks at how students perceive changes that take place across the academic and organizational domains as a result of university mergers. The paper has been published in the latest issue of Higher Education in Russia and Beyond, a joint project between HSE and Boston College Center of International Higher Education.

A student team led by Evgeniia Shmeleva, a doctoral hopeful at the HSE Institute of Education, has claimed the victory in this year’s ‘Academicus Modus’ competition of student research papers. The project entitled ‘Control or trust: dishonest online behaviour,’ which is supervised by Evgeniia, seeks to explore possible triggers of peer pressure in online learning, the circumstances that lead to dishonest behavior online, and the role of physical presence in dishonesty.

The report entitled ‘Twelve Solutions for New Education’, prepared by the Higher School of Economics and the Centre for Strategic Development, was presented at the XIX April International Academic Conference. Professors Martin Carnoy and Tommaso Agasisti, international experts on education and conference guests, have shared their views on the issues and initiatives highlighted in the report.

The HSE Academic Honors Award acknowledges contribution to high-impact scholarship and the advancement of multifaceted cooperation in global science and education.

On April 11, the Education Symposium held as part of the XIX HSE April International Academic Conference featured a presentation and discussion of the paper ‘12 Solutions for New Education,’ which was prepared by the HSE Institute of Education and the Russian Centre for Strategic Development.

A top-tier cohort of academics in multiple areas of education scholarship will join IOE in Moscow during April 10–13 to present about territorial differences in education at the 2018 HSE April International Conference on Socioeconomic Development.

Russian Educational Research Association (RERA), where the HSE Institute of Education (IOE) is one of the founding members, has recently completed formalities to join European Educational Research Association (EERA).
